Regulators are gathering input on how to label barley, rye, and oats for gluten and cross-contact risk, with the Brewers Association favoring the current framework and grain industry groups raising questions about how oats should be handled.

Virginia mandates allergy labels on takeout orders.
Starting July 1, a new state law requires an identifying marker, covering gluten alongside the other major allergens, on any delivery or carryout order altered for a customer’s allergy or sensitivity.

A probiotic yeast reduced gluten-driven inflammation in preclinical models.
Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745 restored a disrupted immune signaling pathway in mouse and human microbiota-based models, though the effect required specific gut bacteria to already be present.

Global allergen recalls: gluten/wheat watch.
Waitrose pulled its Hot Cross Buns in the UK; Québec’s MAPAQ recalled Domaine de l’Ange-Gardien’s ham meatballs and a maple-cream pastry; Ireland recalled Moin Bio Vegan and Butter Croissants; and Canada’s CFIA recalled three Wu Xian Zhai Soybean Snacks flavors.
